Flood Watch issued February 27 at 2:00PM PST until February 29 at 4:00PM PST by NWS Seattle WA

February 27, 2024 - 2:00pm
A strong frontal system will move across the area Tuesday night through Wednesday night bringing a round of moderate to heavy rainfall to western Washington and possible flooding. * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible. * WHERE...Portions of northwest and west central Washington, including the following counties, in northwest Washington, Grays Harbor and Mason. In west central Washington, King, Lewis, Pierce and Thurston. * WHEN...From late tonight through Thursday afternoon. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - A rising snow level, moderate to heavy rain, and to a lesser degree low- to mid-elevation snowmelt will potentially produce enough runoff to cause minor flooding of some streams and rivers. The Olympics and Cascades could see 3 to 5 inches of rain. The snow level will rise Wednesday to 4500 feet. Based on the degree of snow level changes, it's relation to precipitation, and the amount of precipitation and snowmelt makes for a fair amount of uncertainty on what, if any, rivers will flood. The exception is the Skokomish River which is highly likely to exceed flood stage and possibly Moderate Flood. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood Flood Watch 2024-02-27T14:00:00-08:00 2024-02-27T14:00:00-08:00 2024-02-28T04:00:00-08:00 2024-02-28T05:00:00-08:00 Actual Alert Met Future Severe Possible Grays Harbor, WA; King, WA; Lewis, WA; Mason, WA; Pierce, WA; Thurston, WA SAME 053027 SAME 053033 SAME 053041 SAME 053045 SAME 053053 SAME 053067 UGC WAC027 UGC WAC033 UGC WAC041 UGC WAC045 UGC WAC053 UGC WAC067 AWIPSidentifier FFASEW WMOidentifier WGUS66 KSEW 272200 NWSheadline FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT FROM LATE TONIGHT THROUGH THURSDAY AFTERNOON BLOCKCHANNEL EAS BLOCKCHANNEL NWEM BLOCKCHANNEL CMAS EAS-ORG WXR VTEC /O.NEW.KSEW.FA.A.0005.240228T1200Z-240301T0000Z/ eventEndingTime 2024-03-01T00:00:00+00:00
