Red Flag Warning issued August 10 at 1:45PM PDT until August 10 at 10:00PM PDT by NWS Pendleton OR
...WIDELY SCATTERED STORMS WITH FREQUENT LIGHTNING THIS AFTERNOON
AND EVENING...
.Widely scattered thunderstorms are anticipated to develop this
afternoon and evening and will be capable of producing frequent
cloud-to-ground lighting and strong wind gusts up to 45 mph.
While chances of wetting rain with storms that materialize are
elevated at 50% or more, a higher storm coverage is anticipated
compared to yesterday/Friday with an overall higher lightning
risk. Of which, rainfall amounts approaching 0.25 inches will be
likely with some storms due to slow storm motion of around 5-15
mph. Higher wetting rainfall amounts above 0.25 inches cannot be
ruled out for storms with much slower movement.
* AFFECTED AREA...Fire Weather Zones 690 Kittitas Valley, 694
Yakama Alpine District and 695 East Washington South Central
Cascade Mountains.
* THUNDERSTORMS...Abundant lightning with frequent cloud-to-ground
lightning strikes.
* OUTFLOW WINDS...Gusty winds up to 45 mph.
* IMPACTS...Lightning may result in new fire starts. Gusty
outflow winds will be capable of rapid fire spread and causing
erratic wind directions.

Special Weather Statement issued August 9 at 6:03PM PDT by NWS Pendleton OR
Showers and thunderstorms have developed this afternoon across the
Washington Cascade crests. These storms have produced abundant
lighting and heavy downpours at times, with as much as an inch an
hour reported near Stevens Pass. While these storms are largely
expected to remain over the wilderness, those outdoors should
consider finding shelter until storms dissipate. Those with
friends or loved ones hiking or camping in the area should reach
out if possible, as these storms could produce minor flooding in
canyons or deep valleys, combined with the threat of lightning and
even small hail.

Red Flag Warning issued August 9 at 2:58PM PDT until August 10 at 12:00AM PDT by NWS Seattle WA
* AFFECTED AREA...Fire Weather Zone 658 West Slopes of the North
Cascades Generally above 1500 Feet.
* THUNDERSTORMS...Scattered thunderstorms are expected over the
North Cascades with LAL of 3 during the afternoon and evening
hours.
* OUTFLOW WINDS...Gusty and erratic winds are possible in the
vicinity of any thunderstorms that develop.
* IMPACTS...Scattered lightning in dry fuels can cause multiple
fire starts. Thunderstorms can also bring sudden sharp wind
shifts on existing fires, causing rapid changes in a fire's
rate of spread and direction of spread. Thunderstorm outflow
winds can be a threat for several hours following the start of
a new lightning-caused fire. If a fire were to begin, air
quality may diminish in the surrounding area.
