The Oregon Department of Environmental Quality issued an air quality advisory for Jackson and Klamath counties due to wildfires burning in the region. The DEQ also expects intermittent smoke in Josephine, and eastern Douglas counties through at least Friday afternoon due to smoke from surrounding fires. The wildfire smoke combined with forecast conditions will cause air quality levels to fluctuate and could be at unhealthy levels. Smoke levels can change rapidly depending on the weather and planned burn operations. Smoke can irritate the eyes and lungs and worsen some medical conditions. The Oregon Department of Environmental Quality and the Lane Regional Air Protection Agency has continued an Air Quality Advisory for eastern Lane County, which is in effect until 1 PM PDT Friday. An Air Quality Advisory for smoke remains in effect. Wildfires burning in the region combined with forecasted conditions will cause air quality to reach unhealthy levels at times through 1 PM PDT Friday.
